Presently we have seven wine released for sale – 2006 Chardonnay, our only white so far, was released in 2007. Our Merlot  and 2005 Sangiovese were also released in 2007.  In April 2008 came  our new releases-- 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2002 Carmesi, which is a fabulous blend of Syrah and Zinfandel, and our award winning 2005 Syrah. To complement the lineup, we also released a dry Zinfandel dessert wine.   

In August of 2007 grapes were crushed for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Tempranillo.  Our winemaker, Chuck Hovey, estimates the wine will be ready for release  by the end of the spring of 2009.  We are especially looking forward to the Tempranillo.  It is a wonderful grape traditionally used in blending the Spanish Rioja wines, and now, also sold as a varietal in the other wine regions of Spain.  Chuck, with his more than 20 years of winemaking experience, was the first winemaker in California to perfect its production, using California grapes, grown locally in Calaveras County.

While someday we plan to grow some of our own grapes, we  currently acquire   them from highly regarded local vineyards, such as Vallecito Vineyards, Rolleri Vineyards, and Cave City Vineyards. They are all located in Calaveras County.

All of our wines may be purchased at our tasting room, or online at www.bodegadelsur.com.  Prices range between $18.00 and $28.00 per bottle.  Actual shipping charges are added for online purchases, with no handling charges.
