Carmesi 2007

CARMESI -- It's a Spanish word that literally means "crimson, bright red, somewhat darkened with blue; purple". This wine is a blend of 50% Tempranillo, 25% Syrah and 25% Cabernet.

At the 2009 Amador County Fair Commercial Wine Competition the Carmesi was awarded the GOLD MEDAL, best of class for red varietal blends.

As you look at the CARMESI label, please note it has been named Maria Alicia. It is a composite image of the winery owners' mothers. The era depicted on the labels is from 1900 to the 1930's. As the wine blend changes, a different woman in a different dress will adorn the CARMESI label. As poets and song writers have been honoring noble women with their poems and music over the centuries, Bodega del Sur wants to honor them with their wine.

A Carmesi Gala Event was held on May 29th, to honor women and to present the representatives of the two women's shelters, The Resource Connection in Calaveras County, and The Women's Center of San Joaquin County with a check for the funds raised from the sales of the Carmesi.

To continue the tradition of giving, on August 12, 2010, the remaining stock of the Carmesi will be offered at the Wine "Pour-a-thon" in Downtown Disney" to raise funds for the Community Hospital of Orange County,CHOC.
